Marcellus and Utica Shale Conference and Expo 2012

by Max 20. February 2012 22:52

This expo is going to be held at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV. The Expo will be held from April 1-3rd. They have many speakers such as the President of XTO Energy and Chesapeake Energy’s Vice President of Corporate Development. If you want me info on all the speakers and expo go here. West Virginia has been very pro oil and gas over the years, yet still have a beautiful landscape. I have personal been to West Virginia once and the drive through the mountains was amazing, then once we arrived the hotels were well kept and the food was awesome. The state had blown what I first thought about it away.

Kessel Builds Sound-proof Modular Gas Compressor Building

by Administrator 24. June 2011 00:07

Southwest Energy Gas Compressor StationWYALUSING, Pa.— Kessel Construction, Inc. , a leader in design/build industry specializing in oil and gas services for the Marcellus Shale market, custom-fabricated and built a natural gas compressor building for Houston-based Southwestern Energy’s Wyalusing location.

With natural gas exploration, production, and transmission on the rise, Kessel brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table to support this growing industry. Before selecting Kessel, Southwestern officials completed their due diligence by asking several other gas company executives for their recommendations. When the Kessel name came up time and again, Southwestern awarded Kessel this unique project.

“We asked for recommendations and others were impressed with Kessel’s work,” said Stew Burrous of Southwestern. “Kessel was excellent to work with and the team was very helpful with the building design. They understood what we needed and were great in making it happen. In fact, we are using them right now for another project!”

Kessel designed and fabricated the 6,000-square-foot building in-house and then constructed the structure around the compressor on-site. Because the facility runs 24/7, sound control was one of the most important aspects of this project. Kessel’s solution consisted of a foundation floor and a layered wall prepared with four inches of fiberglass and four inches of mineral wool capped with 24-gauge perforated panels.

The building utilizes heavy gauge tubular steel for the primary structural system and industry standard, ribbed metal wall panels with 20-year warranted finish and ribbed metal roof panels with 20-year “Galvalume” coating. These materials offer cost-effective construction and low maintenance.

Another key feature of the building is the capability to easily remove the roof panels and structural system to allow full access to the inside of the building and the compressor unit. This is an important feature when replacing or performing maintenance on the units.

Based in Bradford, Pennsylvania, Kessel Construction, Inc. is a respected design/build firm specializing in turnkey construction of commercial and industrial buildings. Kessel’s experience and reputation as a design-builder makes them uniquely qualified to handle every phase of the project—from site preparation and design through construction completion. Kessel’s oil and gas services include compressor stations, custom warehouses, Butler pre-engineered steel buildings, concrete slabs and foundations, metal fabrication, structural steel, crane systems, and building erection.

Introducing PIOGA’s all-new website

We are pleased to announce our completely redesigned website – www.pioga.org. It is better looking, easier to navigate and packed full of useful features for our industry and the public.

Industry resources
Among notable features, the News/Events section offers news about PIOGA and other items of interest to the industry. We plan to post news items frequently, so be sure to visit often. This section of the website also includes a calendar of PIOGA activities and other industry events. An online form is provided for those requesting that PIOGA post information about an event.

The Resources section includes commodity prices, an online tool for getting involved in advocacy activities such as writing to one’s lawmakers, downloadable copies of present and past issues of The PIOGA Press and a comprehensive list of links to other websites.

The Service Directory section features listings of all PIOGA Service Provider and Professional Firm members. An online form is available to submit updates, including a brief description of what a company has to offer and contact information for any other locations. This section also includes banner advertising for those who want to further enhance the visibility of their company. The directory is currently organized alphabetically, but we will be categorizing members so that users can find companies offering specific products and services.

Another feature still under construction is the Members Only area. Once completed, PIOGA members will be able to update company and contact information in our database, locate other members, register for programs, renew their membership, access committee resources and more.

Educating the public
To help the public understand more about oil and gas in Pennsylvania, the website contains pages describing our industry, the process of exploring for and developing oil and gas, environmental safeguards, hydraulic fracturing, and the differences between conventional oil and gas and the Marcellus Shale. There’s also a page where landowners can find the answers to frequently asked questions or locate more detailed information. To take advantage of the recently launched PIOGA Speakers Bureau, there is a page allowing submissions of requests for speakers on various topics.

A Careers section provides a comprehensive look at the many different types of jobs available in the industry, along with a description of the work and the necessary education or experience for that position. We have also included the contents of an interactive CD-ROM called “Great Jobs in Oil and Gas” that was produced in 2008 by POGAM and the North Central Oil & Gas Industry Workforce Partnership. Via the Careers section, we have made it easier for PIOGA member companies to list job openings and for individuals seeking positions in the industry to post their resumes.

As part of the project, we have also launched a social media campaign that includes Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, RSS and YouTube  will be taking advantage of these new communication mediums to get our messaged out to the industry and the public.
